MHIC was contracted to completely remodel my house from attic to basement. We had gutted out most of the house before we had gotten an estimate to have it renovated. Mr. Palmer came up with a new layout and design for the interior of the home within a couple of days of seeing the house and was very punctual with getting back to me with diagrams of his ideas and estimates of price and time need to perform the work. After agreeing to the new layout of the house the work started within a week of signing the contract. The work included finishing gutting out the house and framing the interior completely. They installed 2 full baths including special order vanities. Waterproofing and finishing a basement into a family room, laundry room and storage area. All new windows were installed. A whole new kitchen was put in and installation of all new appliances ( including double wall oven, gas range, dishwasher and hood vent. New hard wood floors for the first floor and refinishing existing ones on the second floor (which was his idea and turned out awesome ). All new plumbing, electrical and HVAC. A new staircase was added and one of the existing ones was moved to provide a larger landing. Support beams were added remove other load bearing walls. Chimney was removed and disposed of. House was insulated from attic to basement. All new drywall, molding and trim work were installed and painted. Entire exterior of house was also painted. All new lighting fixtures which included everything from recessed lighting to chandeliers to outdoor flood lights. All appliances including the hot water heater were relocated to a different location which entailed relocating all plumbing and gas pipes. All doors were replaced and one exterior door was removed. Exterior shingles were replaced were a door and several windows were removed. Roof was also repaired were chimney had been removed as well. We also had crown molding and chair rail molding added in a couple rooms. Telephone lines and cable lines were ran to our specific locations too. All in all we got a whole new house. Overall Mr. Palmer was very pleasant to work with and an upstanding gentleman. The project started out smoothly and ended just as smoothly. Him and his crew worked for over 3 months straight non-stop. The would show up at 7 every morning without fail. Because of my deadline to get out of my old house he was able to get me and my family in sooner than planned (sometimes working 12 hr days and weekends). My phone calls were always answered and my concerns were always his priority. If there was ever anything that I wanted to change it was always done the next day without any question. Mr. Palmer was always willing to meet me when it was convenient for my schedule to go over things with me in person. I don't think that I could have ended up with a better contractor for the job. I felt like all my needs were met and ended up with a great new home. I would surely use him again.

JJ ordered new windows, siding and paint to exactly match my existing windows, siding and paint. He listened to my questions and ideas. He and his assistant were friendly and professional. They arrived on time each morning and cleaned up before they left each day. Per my request, JJ also installed a pipe in the wall to feed all the TV and cable wires from the tv to the entertainment center. He installed new window ledges to match my other existing windows. The work took three days to complete. I am very particular about work done at my home, and I was very pleased with the work performed by JJ and his assistant. I can highly recommend this contractor to my friends. I will hire JJ again for future projects.

I needed to have the basement remodeled after a small flooding event destroyed the carpeting. The contractor came to the house and surveyed the area. I told him I wanted to do major upgrades to the half bath and was interested in getting lights installed in the ceiling. He gave me a reasonable estimate for the carpet, painting, building a shower stall, lighting installation, and replacing all the bath fixtures. We worked out a schedule that fit both of our schedules, and I paid 1/3 as a downpayment on the contract. During the interim, he kept in touch by email to advise me on picking the fixtures I wanted him to use. When the start date arrived, he and his assistant arrived early and got to work. He told me it would take 2 weeks, and they finished on schedule. During the remodeling, I changed a couple small items and he worked those changes in to the schedule easily. After he finished, I asked him for an estimate for another small painting/drywall fix job, and signed a contract to have that done a couple months later.

I contacted MHIC to finish two areas in our basement, one 12' x 12' and one approximately 12' x 21' with 2x4 wall framing, r13 batt insulation at exterior walls, drywall at walls and ceiling, recessed lights (7), receptacle outlets (10), coax outlets (2), paint, two doors, base molding. Work at stairwell includes drywall and paint on steps. Flooring of finished rooms to be hardwood. Construction and installation of two buit-in red oak bookcases trimmed with red oak and finished with stain and polyurethane. One shelf contains twelve two-and-one-half foot shelves; the other contains ten three-foot shelves. (3) Outdoor water proofing and concrete restoration. (4) Installation of new AC sump pump, new DC backup sump pump, and sump pump water alarm. (5) Installation of three new outlets in unfinished portion of basement, including one GFCI outlet. I had used this firm previously to install a new entryway door. As with that experience, this one was superb: JJ is a clear communicator, is conscientious, and takes the time to do the work properly. He is a pleasure to work with, and I will definitey hire him again. During the course of this work, I also learned that MHIC does general handyman work at a rate nearly 50% lower than the franchised handyman service I had been using.

I lived in a house that I wanted to sell and it needed updating. I hired JJ at Maryland Home Improvement Co on the recommendation of the architect who drew up the plans for the renovation. The work included installing an Ikea kitchen and all new appliances, repairing the oak floors and installing new floors in the kitchen area, electrical upgrades, installing a new master bath, installing carpet in two existing bedrooms, removing a closet and installing a new doorway to the back bedrooms and changing the windows in the master bedroom. After all the carpentry was complete, JJ and the crew painted the house both inside and out and it looked great.The job turned out beautifully. I was in Florida during the renovation and JJ worked with the architect's drawings (along with changes I made to them), we spoke on the phone frequently and managed to work out all the minor details such as cabinet hardware, new light fixtures, carpet, paint colors,etc. by phone and during the brief visits I made to Annapolis. Whenever I checked on the progress the company made, the whole house was neat and clean and all the trash had been removed. It was great and JJ and his helpers were a pleasure to work with. I sold the house within 2 weeks of listing it with a Realtor.

Contractor constructed a Deck at the rear of my home that consisted of Composite (Trex) wood, Electrical light fixtures, Stair Well, and some painting to exterior areas. Contractor constructed a Wet Bar in the finished part of the basement. The job consisted of Ceramic Tile floor installation, electrical, plumbing, cabinet installation including accessories, and Granite Counter tops. Contractor also installed the electrical appliances and six (6) ceiling fans to the interior of the house. This job consisted of all labor intensive electrical work. Contractor constructed a large wooden Shelf to the interior of the garage area. The wooden shelf sits above the parked cars and serves as extra storage space. All work provided by this Contractor is excellent and I would recommend MHIC to anyone needing home improvement and or remodeling services.
